In Loving Memory of Sister Maxine (Brooks) Houston.


In Loving Memory of Sister Maxine (Brooks) Houston. Maxine (Brooks) Houston was born October 1st, 1943 in Longview, Texas to Horace and Willie Dell Brooks. She was the second oldest of five children. She attended school in Longview, Texas- Eastward Elementary, Longview Negro High, and later graduated from LG. -Pinkston High School in Dallas, Texas. In 1970, she relocated to Seattle, Washington, and married her long-time Beau Robert W. Houston. She joined the -People's Institutional Baptist Church of Seattle, WA, where she served on the Usher Board and served the Seattle Community through various Outreach -Programs. She then attended Seattle Community College and received a Certification in Accounting and Banking, Maxine worked for the Seattle Trust and Savings Bank. for 15 ½ years, progressing from a Bank. Teller to the Assistant Bank. Manager. She later expanded her career in the Communication field, where she worked for A TT, US West & Qwest Communication for 18 yea Maxine had a contagious smile that could light up a room. She retired in January 2006 and relocated back. to Longview, Texas where she enjoyed family, Arts and Crafts (making candles, wreaths, crocheting, sewing), traveling and reading. Personal MOTTO: "DO UNTO OTHER AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU". She is preceded in death by both parents, brother Ellester Brooks, sister Mary V. Wilson; Granddaughters- Pamela Ragland, Monique Ragland, and Grandson Bernard Ragland. She leaves to cherish her memories: Sister, Ramona Bryant (Walter); Brother, Thelester Brooks; Three Sons, Alvertis Brooks Sr., Tony R. Brooks Sr., Horlando P Graves; One Daughter, Mona Lisa (Houston) Adams (Roger); Daughter-in-Laws Bernardean (Hampton) Brooks and Tanya Brooks. Grandchildren, Alvertis Brooks Jr., Aaron Brooks, Tony Brooks Jr., Terrell Brooks Sr. (Zeinetta), Devin Brooks, Jillian Barrage, Rogina Adams, Xavier Ragland, Shawna Graves, and a host of grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Relatives, Friends, and church family in Seattle Washington-People Institutional Baptist Church; Jerusalem Baptist Church and Friendship Baptist Church --both of Longview, Texas. Memorial Service will be held at People's Institutional Baptist Church, 159 24th Ave Seattle Wa 98122 on Saturday, April 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
