DOUG E. FRESH TO HEADLINE UMOJA FEST WITH A MESSAGE OF PEACE, UNITY, AND HEALING MORE INFO ON PARADE AND ROUTE PAGE 4 [Seattle, WA] – [Monday, July 15, 2023] – Umoja Fest, hailed as “The Soul of Seafair,” is thrilled to announce that Doug E. Fresh, the “World’s Greatest Entertainer,” will headline this year’s festival. In response to the recent surge in gun violence in Seattle, Doug E. Fresh will deliver an electrifying perfor mance focused on promoting peace, unity, and healing. The community is invited to join the parade and support the call for peace and an end to gun violence. Attendees are also encouraged to participate in a record-breaking attempt for the largest "Teach Me How to Dougie" flash mob. UMOJA Fest will take place on August 3-4 at Judkins Park in Seattle’s Central District. The parade be gins on Saturday, August 3, at 1:00 PM, starting at 23rd Avenue & Cherry Street and traveling south to Jackson Street. Following the parade, festivities will continue at Judkins Park, featuring two stages of live performances curated by Dope Culture, community speakers, Children’s Village presented by ADE FUA, and over 100 cultural retail and food vendors. From drill teams to marching bands to The Buffalo Soldiers to the old-school cars, the UMO JA Fest Africatown Parade will keep you entertained.
