This year, there will be numerous MLK events occurring in Western Washington. Here are a handful that will take place.

Tacoma
Tacoma’s MLK event will be held on Monday, Jan. 20 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center on 1500 Commerce Street Tacoma WA 98402. At 11 p.m. there will be Community Outreach Fair and a celebration at 1:00 p.m. There will be performances, speakers, and awards. In addition, there is free parking at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center.
On Jan. 20, The Children’s Museum of Tacoma, there will be a Family Storytime and Activity Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The museum is located at 1501 Pacific Ave Tacoma, WA 98402.
At 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. there will be storytime. According to their website, families can participate in “dream cloud activity inspired by the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”
MetroParks will have an MLK Day of Service on Jan. 20 It starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. It is a volunteering activity where you remove invasive plants and trash. The participating parks are Titlow Park, Point Defiance Park, and Swan Creek Park.

Seattle
Northwest African American Museum will be on Jan. 20. It goes from 10 a.m.m to 5 p.m. The theme for this year is “Forward Together,” according to their website.
Also, the event includes introducing “two new art exhibits” and “a community resource fair.”
On Jan. 20, Garfield High School will host an MLK Opportunity Fair. It starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m.

Everett
Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee(SCBHC) will have a march and rally on Jan. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The march will start at the Everett Memorial Stadium to the VOAWW Carl Gipson Center.
