The Merdith Mathews Honored Coach Williams for Her Impact on Youth Basketball


YMCA was proud to announce a special evening in honor of Coach Lorrita Williams, a dedicated volunteer and inspirational leader in the basketball youth program. This cel-ebration took place on Thursday, February 20th, at The Esquire Club.Coach Williams has made an indelible mark on the community through her unwavering commitment to mentoring young athletes. As a volunteer coach, she has not only led her team, “The Fu-ture,” to success on the basketball court but has also instilled vital life skills and values in her players. Her passion for giving back and nurturing the next generation has earned her the admiration and respect of countless families and peers. The Meredith Mathews YMCA Sports Program Director for the YMCA, Nikita Love wrote: The success of every woman should be an inspiration to another.” This quote resonates when people speaking about this next individual because she truly does inspire. I’ve had the pleasure of know-ing Miss Loritta Williams since my daughter played for her 5 to 6 years back and even then I would be like Miss Williams, is up on my baby! She’s just a kid. But the reality is the type of discipline she provides is both transformative and necessary for young people. I have watched countless children tightened up the minute they stepped foot onto her court no instructions no questions asked. And not out of fear, something bigger than that, respect. For that not only do I admire her, but I am truly proud.
