Another frustrating loss

The Seattle Seahawks   27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings capsulated the Seahawks season. Many decent, maybe even good, things were coupled with poor performances.  To blame just one person would be wrong and downright unfair. If you ask the general collective, plenty of villains  to go around.  Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb,  Geno Smith, the offensive line, Riq Woolen, Dre Monte Jones, and the list goes on and on. You can throw in Mike Macdonald to ensure the list is complete. Given the time of the year, we want to ensure every list is complete. The loss to the Vikings dealt a significant blow to the Seahawk’s playoff chances. The Seahawks dropped to second place in the NFC West with an 8-7 record. The Los Angeles Rams with a 9-6  record are ahead of the Seahawks and in first place.  After Thursday night's game with the Chicago  Bears, the Seahawks will face off with the Rams. For that game to matter, the Seahawks have to beat the  Bears, and the Rams have to lose their game with the Arizona Cardinals.  For the Seahawks to return to the winning side, they will need to stop making mistakes. That’s been the Seahawk’s story all season: making critical errors at critical times.

“ Against a team like this, the unforced errors has to get cleaned up. It starts with me, said head coach Mike Macdonald. “ So we'll look at it just like we do every week. Look at it and make adjustments and move forward. But we have to clean up the procedural stuff.” Another issue for the Seahawks is a lack of a running game. Against the  Vikings, the  Seahawks managed just 59  rushing yards.  The lack of a run game makes the Seahawks a one dimensional team on offense.  When defenses know all you are going to do is pass the ball, they bring all kinds of blitzes to attack your quarterback.  Against the Vikings, Seahawks quarterback  Geno Smith was sacked twice and threw two interceptions while running for his life.  So with just two games left the Seahawks need to regroup and stop with the self inflicted wounds.
