THAT WAS A QUICK HONEYMOON

The Seahawks finished the season on a high note with a 30- 25 win over the Los Angeles Rams. With the win, the Seahawks split the season series against the Rams, who had beaten the Seahawks at Lumen Field earlier in the year. Both teams finished the season with identical 10-7 records, but the Rams were crowned NFC West Division Champs. Why? The NFL has six tiebreakers to determine which team is given the title when both teams are tired. After the Rams and Seahawks were tied in the first four tiebreakers, the fifth one, the strength of victory, favored the Rams, and they were given the Division title.

It came down to the strength of win. The two teams’ wins were compared, and it was determined the teams the Rams beat had better records than the teams the Seahawks beat.

Weird no doubt. Speaking of weird, how about this one? Less than 24 hours after the win over the Rams, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald announced that he had fired first-year offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Wait what? Macdonald said there was a philosophical difference between the two. This left many of you asking, it’s been only 11 months since you hired the dude; what happened? Well, in all fairness, the Seahawk’s offense was ranked 28th in rushing yards ( 1,627) and 29th in rushing attempts (383). To give you some context, the Seahawk's passing offense was ranked 8th in yards ( 4020) and 7th in attempts (593). For Macdonald and VP John Schneider, the disparity between the run and pass game was just too big, and in their mind, it would not get any better. So Grubb was fired, and number one on the Seahawk’s offseason to-do list is to hire an offensive coordinator
