In Loving Memory of Alice Mae Coleman

Alice Mae Coleman

On January 24, 2025, Alice Mae Coleman peacefully passed away at the age of 83. Born on November 16, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Hayward Coleman, and her son, Aaron Coleman, who passed away in 2002.

Alice’s greatest joy was her family. She was the cornerstone, providing unconditional love, wisdom, and support that held her loved ones together. Her home was always a place of laughter, filled with home-cooked meals, where everyone was warmly welcomed.

Alice was baptized into Christ in her 70’s and faithfully attended Faith Deliverance AOH and then moved to the Southside Church of Christ, where she was fed spiritually for the last 10 years of her life on earth.

She is survived by her children, Otis “Sputty” Ward (Aesa), Katrina “Trina” Piper (Ronald), and Hayward Coleman Jr. (Rebekah); her 13 grandchildren: Marcus, Relasha, Akim, Brianna, Christian, Jordan, Tyshawn, Jada, Jalynn, Messiah, Brendan, Jayden, and Tiera, and 25 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other cherished family members.

After working several years for the Seattle Public Schools as a counselor, and an instructor for a number of Seattle Colleges, Alice retired in 2006 as the Vice Principal of Renton High School. Her enduring passion for supporting youth and families inspired her to establish Coleman Family Services, through which she continued making a meaningful impact on her community.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Southside Church of Christ, 12200 59th Ave S., Seattle, WA 98178
