Luther passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, at the age of 68. He was the oldest born to Luther Jenkins, Sr and Dorothy Braggs on January 8, 1956, in Seattle, Washington. Luther grew up in the Central District (CD) at a time when Black Pride was so powerful and strength in the community. He attended TT Minor, Meany, Garfield and Seattle University. He was a hard worker and perfectionists working at the University of Washington and Bush Private School in the maintenance departments. Luther was a lover of music and was a musician playing piano, guitar and bongos; he had a huge collection of all music. He was a jack of all trades, working on multiple type of vehicles, displaying his artistic skills in landscaping and most of all he was an amazing cook, self-proclaimed chef, which cooking was his favorite thing to do. Luther also had a passion and style for clothes, he would often refer to himself in the 70’s style language, “Sharp as a tack.”
Luther leaves behind five children: Erica, Terriah of Atlanta, GA, Danielle, Luther III, Tevin all of Seattle, WA. Nine grandchildren: Javon, Jaidyn, Javeon, Me’asja, Zavion, Braxton, of Seattle, WA Dyamon, Roman, Zoey, Selah, Rayn of Atlanta, GA, Two brothers: Ray and Terry Jenkins, Two sisters: Tami Pillard and Tinna White all of Seattle, WA. Nine nieces: El Shawna, Tierra, Terryanna, Shaya, Tierra, Araya all of Seattle, WA, Ashley and Alisha of Springfield, Ohio, Latasha of Atlanta, GA, Six nephews: Montique, Ray Jr., Jemell, Mordeciyah, Dewayne and Tr’e all in Seattle, WA, and one beloved Aunt Billie Jean Danley of Milwaukee, WI, Seven great nieces and Five great nephews. Luther was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Graham, father Luther Jenkins Sr., brother Vernell Pillard, and nephew Javon Wilson, Step sibling J.B. Jr, Judy, Kevin Pillard.
Luther was the life of the party anywhere he went he could tell the best jokes to make everyone laugh as he used to do for his beloved mother before her passing in 2017. People use to say he should have been a comedian. Luther will be sorely missed and remembered in our hearts.
