Zhivonne’ (Vonne’) Maria Garrett

Zhivonne’ was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on April 19, 1966 to Marlene S. Slaughter and Jerry E. Collins. She and her mother lived in St. Louis for several years before returning to Seattle, Washington. When Zhivonne’ became of age to start school, she attended the Seattle Distar Head Start Program. She spent her formative years in Seattle, Washington with her mother and sister, Zhimondre’. Zhivonne’ graduated from Franklin High School in 1984. As she furthered her education at Seattle Pacific University, she was selected as one of the participants of the 1984
debutante class of The Washington Rhinestone Club. These educational opportunities inspired her to become a Certified Nurse Assistant. For more than 20 years, Zhivonne’ dedicated her life
towards empathy, love, and respect to the patients under her care.
On March 7, 1992, Fredrick Q. Garrett married Zhivonne’ M. Garrett. They raised eight children: Montalia, Fredrick Jr., Breanna, James, Zhitaya, Zhakaysha, Elijah and Zanazhia. Vonne’ loved and supported her children through all of their endeavors, including three college degrees. She also enjoyed and mentored eight grandchildren. Throughout the years of motherhood, she instilled in her children the values of faith, family, and love for one another.
Zhivonne’ joined the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, after a lengthy period of illness.
She is survived by her husband Fredrick, her mother Marlene (step-father Ed), sisters: Clara
Vereen and Zhimondre’ Spears (Derrick), one aunt (Marguerite Jones), aforementioned
children, eight grandchildren, and a host of beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
