In Loving Memory of Raymond James Dae’Mychael Askew


Raymond James Dae’Mychael Askew August 28, 2000 - March 28, 2025 He is survived by his parents, Asya Faircloth and Raymond Askew; grandparents Emma and James Garrett; siblings Vaungh’Nee Walker, James Askew, Kimara Anderson, Mychal Anderson, Elsie Carlos, and Nayaeli Wiley; niece Malina Burney; bonus father Mychal Anderson Sr.; and many extended family and friends. Raymond was raised in Seattle’s High Point community and attended High Point Elementary, Madrona K-8, Showalter Middle School, and Alder Academy. He participated in the Seattle Youth Violence Prevention Initiative program ran by his uncle Michael Smalls who had a huge influential presence from beginning to the end. In 2018, he survived a traumatic brain injury, overcoming significant recovery challenges. Known for his humor, determination, and vibrant personality, he will be deeply missed. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him and rent free in the minds of those that didn’t.
