In Loving Memory of Myrtle Alford Monette


Myrtle Alford Monette, Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was raised on a farm by her grandparents and father. Myrtle became a part of history, moving to Se- attle along with thousands of African Americans in 1943 as part of the migration of WWII. Myrtle became an instructor at Sandpoint Naval Base for the DOD, and worked for the Boeing Com- pany - retired as a riveter. She married Roy Monette. They were happily married for years until his passing in 2012. A member of F.A.M.E. church for 76 years, she enjoyed singing in the choir. They referred to her as “Sweet Myrtle”. She dressed models for Frederick & Nelson, I. Magnin department stores, fashion was her thing! Myrtle was blessed by the Lord, lived to be 105 years old when she passed in the comfort of her home. Survived by many family members who loved and adored her. Services held at F.A.M.E Church, 1522 14th Ave, Seattle Washington @11AM, Nov. 28th 2023
