In Loving Memory of Matthew Gary Sanders


Matthew Gary Sanders, affectionately known as “Matt,” was born on October 22, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan to the union of Mr. Lloyd Hatcher Sanders and Mrs. Clotell Vivian Sanders. In 1959, Matthew relocated to Seattle, Washington and lived in the Madrona area for over 61yrs.


Matt was a loving, caring and a hard working man; he was loyal to his family and friends. Matthew was a proud graduate of Northwestern High School. He also proudly served his country while enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. Matt was an outstanding employee; he worked and retired as a Draftsman for the Noaa Company.


In December 1984, Matt was married to the love of his life, Mary L. Sanders for 35 years until her passing on New Years in 2019. He was a devoted husband and stepfather to his wife’s children. The two of them jointly owned and operated “M&M” Daycare Center for 30 years. They enjoyed providing loving care to the children in their community. Matthew loved jazz, reading about history and current affairs.


Matt was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Sanders, his mother and father, Mr. Lloyd and Clotell Sanders, his sisters: Ann, Evelyn, Rosemary and Ruth, and brother James Sanders from Detroit, Michigan.


Matthew Gary Sanders departed this life, Thursday, August 13th 2020. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Damion Mitchell of Detroit, Michigan, two brothers, Joseph Sanders and Lloyd Sanders of Detroit, Michigan. Five stepchildren, Gregory Delgardo, Vickie L. Delgardo-­‐Smith, Roderick P. Delgardo, Pamela S. Narin (Arthur), Cassandra Cadentie; nine grandchildren, twenty great-­‐grandchildren and one great-­‐great granddaughter, a host of relatives and dear friends.
