In Loving Memory of Marilyn Eva Tukes

Marilyn Eva Tukes born August 23, 1951 to the union of Lorriane R Coe and Wilbur S Coe and left this world on July 20, 2021. Marilyn was married to Larry Tukes, her soul mate for 46 years. Marilyn and Larry had three children between them: LaShana R Coe (Adrianna McAfee-Coe and Evaya McAfree-Coe) LaMonte S Coe, Desiree Roberts (Braden and Blige).
Marilyn loved her children and grandchildren deeply. She had a special relationship with her daughter LaShana. She adored her grandkids and yes, she spoiled them. She was the oldest of ten children and was a second mother to many of her siblings. Marillyn was an avid reader, loved walking, dancing with her husband, gardening and loving others. Marilyn was kind and gentle, with a quirky sense of humor, she touched the lives of many people. Her love for family cultivated by the Tuke's passion drove her last project which was a house they designed and built as a multi-generational home.
She attended UW and Community College earning an AA Degree. She went on to manage several stores and eventually become a business owner.
She was one of the founding members with her husband Larry of the Douglass Youth Golf Development Program, which provided opportunities for underprivileged children to play and learn the game of golf. Marilyn was on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee for 30 years, a longtime member of the NAACP, former member of Local UFCW 21, a key figure at the Central Area Senior Center and participated in the Seattle Medium/Z-Twins Food Drive. She was active in local and state governments, always fighting for equal rights and opportunities for people of color in the Seattle area. She was a community organizer and social justice champion.
She is survived by, her husband, Larry Tukes, children LaShana, LaMonte, Desiree, grandchildren Adrianna, Evaya, Braden and Blige, siblings William and Okang Coe, Richard Coe, John and Teri Coe (Mikal, Kelly, Missy and Nathan), Gary Coe, Jerry Coe (deceased) Carolyn and Bill Ruskovich (Angela, Jason, Annette) Norman Coe (Bob, Brian and Sarah), Jacklyn and Robroy Ranger (Ashley and Selby), Sherilyn (Shaney) and Fred Redmon (Jazmine and Jade).
Mother in-law Lillie Ruth Tukes, sister-in-law Joan Tukes (Trina and Dion). Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many friends and colleagues.
The memorial will be on Friday July 30th 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Foster Memorial Park 13919 53rd Ave S, Tukwila WA 98168
The family gives a special thanks to Joe Henry Duffie former Tukwila City Councilman.
