“Queen Pearl”

Marguerite Lori Richard passed from this life into eternal rest on August 9, 2024. She was 68 years old. Marguerite graduated from Franklin High School in 1973. At Franklin, she sang under the leadership of the great Patrinell Wright. Marguerite studied music at Cornish College of the Arts and shared her musical gift in several community choirs, including Hosanna, F.A.M.E. Choir, True Destiny, Northwest Connection, Washington State Mass Choir, and Gospel Music Educators Seminar Choir. She appeared on the G.M.E.S. recorded album “He Got Up.” Her beautiful soprano voice blessed everyone who heard it.
Marguerite was ordained as an evangelist by her godmother Pastor Eula Clark. Marguerite toured with different choirs, and sang with many national gospel artists including Sandra Crouch, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Richard Smallwood, Keith Pringle, and others. On her first tour with GMES, she met Yolanda Adams in Houston (early in her career).
Marguerite was known in the community as “Queen Pearl.” She advocated for justice and civil rights, following in the footsteps of her mother and aunt.
A memorial celebration of Marguerite’s life will be held Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Rainier Avenue Church, 5900 Rainier Ave. S, Seattle, WA, 98118. Reception immediately following service.
