In Loving Memory of Lawrence L Goncalves Sr.


Lawrence L Goncalves Sr passed away in Seattle Washington on September 25, 2024 at the age of 74 with family by his side.

Larry was born October 26, 1949 to parents Lois B Bernstein and Domenick Goncalves - the oldest of 10 siblings. He graduated from Joel E Ferris High School in 1967. In 1972 Larry became Spokane's first black firefighter in department history! Larry lived an exceptional and fulfilled life. He exuded confidence and was a natural people magnet. He didn't sugar coat anything and he certainly didn't spare any feelings telling it like it is. Whether he was saving lives, giving sound advice, advocating for civil rights, redirecting the youth in educational pursuits, or supporting his family members with tough love, he answered God's calling and lived it every day!


Larry is survived by his loving mother, Lois B Bernstein: Son, Lawrence L Goncalves Jr.: Daughters, Cassandra D Goncalves & Satirhea D Goncalves: Grandchildren, Nechelle M Lacy and Armani S Barnett: Great Grandchildren, Talyah L Lacy & Kae R Lacy: Brothers, Andre R Goncalves: John M Goncalves: the late Rudy L Nash: Sisters, Orelia M Duncan: Marianna Jenkins: Lynda L Spates: Ramona L Goncalves: Charlene M Harris & Carolene M Anthony: Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws.


Dad/Larry Sr. will be forever in our hearts.
