
Joquelyn Lois Duncan, age 78, of Seattle, WA passed away
peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025 surrounded by the love of
family.
Joquelyn was born on Sept 19, 1946 in Seattle, WA. She was the
second born child to James and Bertha Jinkens. She and her sisters
grew up in the Central District on Empire Way. Joquelyn attended
Horace Man Elementary, Meany Middle School and graduated from
Garfield High School in 1964. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s
degrees from Antioch University Seattle.

She worked for Casey Family Programs for 31 years, and retired as
the director of Board Affairs and Special Initiatives in January 2011.
While working professionally, she remained an active member of
People’s Institutional Baptist Church (PIBC) in Seattle. Throughout
her life, she was devoted to serving community, youth and families.
She founded Work-It-Out Seattle, a non-profit to provide educational
opportunities for under-served youth. Joquelyn was phenomenally
talented and endlessly generous.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents and survived by her
devoted children, Bridgette Johnson, David Duncan, and Demetrius
Duncan; and her loving sisters, Evelyn Jones, Charelyn Stennis,
Rosalyn Jinkens, and Gwendolyn Gainer, as well as a host of beloved
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and dear
friends.

A memorial service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park &
Funeral Home, 350 Monroe Ave NE Renton, WA 98056. The viewing
will take place on March 19, 2025, 12-4pm. The funeral service will
take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at12:30pm
