Jackie Wilson, born on December 12, 1948, in Tallahassee, Florida, was the cherished firstborn
of Isa Mae and Horace Wilson. Growing up as the eldest of eight siblings, she gracefully
embraced the role of a guiding light in her family. Fondly known as "Chi" by her loved ones,
Jackie's life was enriched by her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jackie passed away on Sunday,
May 5, 2024.
Jackie's professional journey was a testament to her dedication and hard work. She graduated
from Garfield High School in 1974 and embarked on a career at Virginia Mason Medical Center.
Starting in the Medical Records, she quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a Medical
Receptionist and Lead Department Trainer. Her commitment to learning was evident as she
joined the float pool, rotating to different clinic floors and gaining knowledge about every
clinical area. Her exceptional work was recognized with the Employee of the Year award.
Jackie's last role was in the New Patient Regimentation Department, where she worked until her
retirement in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of reliability and dedication after spending 45 years
as a part of the Virginia Mason family.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband; Al Ferguson, her parents, Isa Mae Vaster and
Horace Wilson; her daughter, Cristina Gayton; brothers Michael Wilson, Marcel Wilson, Ray
Wilson, and Freddie Brown; and sisters Deborah Wilson and Syliva Vaster.
Jackie's legacy is carried forward by her son, Al Ferguson II, and her three beloved
grandchildren, Mateo, Akira, and Aizen, her stepchildren, Traci (Jason) Hodge, Henry Lewis
Ferguson and Sheila Porter. She is fondly remembered by her brother, Maurice "Ricky" Vaster;
her nieces and nephews, Marco (Mary) Wilson, Terri Jones, Alvina Holmes, Flynn Wilson, Terri
Jones, Miki, Partina Parks, Justin Smith, and Ikeim Vaster.
Many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends cherish her memory. Jackie was well-loved;
her extended family and friends will deeply miss her warm presence and love.
