In Loving Memory of Iona White

Iona White

Sunrise: March 7, 1928 - Sunset: July 14, 2024

Mrs. Iona White was number six of thirteen children born March 7, 1928 in Magnolia Springs Texas to the union of Belvie and Charles “Charlie” Crawford, whom both proceeded her in death. In 1956 she married Alfred Hulland White and lived off 33rd Cherry since 1960. Alfred White was called home April 8, 2001.

Iona graduated from Walnut Hill High School in Magnolia Springs, TX. Later attended Prairie View A&M University. She moved to Seattle, got her license as an LPN in 1953 and worked at Seattle General Hospital. Later she worked evening custodial jobs for Roger Wright, ABM and City of Seattle. After retirement she worked as a Crossing Guard at TT Minor and Madrona Elementary School until retirement again in 2014.

Iona accepted Christ early in life. When she came to Seattle, she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. C.E. Williams, House of Refuge Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Bishop R.J. Causey and Causey Memorial under the leadership of Marion Causey.

Iona loved fishing (Moses Lake, Lake Campbell and Lake Washington) for hours day and night. She also loved gardening in her massive garden. Much later in her golden years she enjoyed going to “The Shoot”.

At the age of 96 there were many family members that proceeded her in death, including her son Alfred H. White Jr. and granddaughter Morgan Ealom. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Marcia Ealom (Michael) and Rhoda Ransom (Michael), stepdaughter Mary Radcliffe and daughter-in-law Yvonne White. Brothers: Robert Crawford (Minnie) Houston, TX, William Crawford (Helen) Seattle, WA Sister: Oplena Refour, Seattle WA. Grandchildren: Claudette, Tianya, Michael II, Ezra, Justin, Rebekka, Alfred III, Anisia, Marcus. Great-grandchildren: Ayla, Rory III, Ryann, Ruby, Peyton, Olivia, Xzavior, Alfred IV, Mia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation is July 24, 2024 from 10am – 1pm at Bonnie Watson Sea-Tac. Final visitation and interment will be in Magnolia Springs Texas.
