David was born in Coffeeville, Mississippi his family moved to Seattle, WA in the 1960's. In 1961 David landed a job working for Boeing doing sandblasting and painting commercial aircraft until Boeing big layoff in the 1970's, at which time David started working as a Roofer and in 1979 pursued his dream to own his own business and started a Roofing Company ( Britt Property Maintenance) providing service to both residential and commercial businesses throughout the Puget Sound region working for such well-known companies as Sears, King County, Seattle Housing Authority, Real Assets Property Services Inc. and the Port of Seattle. In 1986 and 1987 his business was recognized for outstanding performance and presented the "Award of Excellence" as Minority Contractor of the Year by the Puget Sound Development Council.


Providing service as an Independent Contractor he later expanded his services in property maintenance.


In 1988-David heard the Port of Seattle Noise Remedy Division acquired hundreds of homes and businesses that needed up keep in South Seattle and was seeking prospective contractors to bid on maintaining their properties. This project included seal/secure vacant houses, roofing, landscape, water and sewer repair, painting, cleaning and other small projects.


His hobbies were fishing, gardening, cooking and getting together with his friends. Dave had a passion for food and kept with his southern roots, he enjoyed home-cooked meals soul-food style and bar-b-que and was a master at it. He opened his own Restaurant at the time named Dave & Bessie Down Home. In 1990-displayed his bar-b-que skills at the Bite of Seattle and won 1st Place for the best bar-b-que at the Bite.


In 2005-Britt Property Maintenance was recognized and featured in Northwest Colors Magazine as a small business with a Big Performance.


David was a family man, one of noble character with love and respect for others. A man of few words with a Big heart. He was loved and will be missed by so many. The family will like to thank everyone for their condolences, cards, flowers, support and prayers.

Preceded in death by his parents Edmond and Estelle Britt, 1st wife Bessie, 5 brothers- Edmond, Elvin, Joe Louis, Wallace, and Billy Britt 2 sisters Ruth and Doris Britt. David is survived by his wife Bertha, 3 sons Titus, Terry, and David J.Britt. 2 step daughters Geryna Savage and Audrey Diggins. 2 brothers J V and John Britt. 3 sisters Pat, Mary (Mae Sue) and Estelle Faye Britt 14 grandchildren Anthony,Spencer,Joshua,Ashley, Destinee, Zoie,Terry, RoShae' LaRue, Kalees Estell, Freddie Leeshell Franklin-Britt, Chanel Reid, Malik Prior, Xavier and Logan Harris 4 great- grandchildren Jordan and Jhanae Avent, Madison and Aaiden Reid.
