The headline pretty much describes the Seahawks 45 to 29 loss to the
Detroit Lions in front of a nationally televised audience. Missing five
starters on defense the Seahawks gave a gallant effort. I am not just
saying the old college try here because their effort earned then some
respect around the league. How doesearn respect in a loss? You
play hard, recognized your opponents strategy and at times make the
play. Against the Lions the Seahawks make shift defense made some
plays. Linebackers Dre’ Mont Jones, Tyrice Knight, Tyus Bowser , Dre’Mont
Jones and Derick Hall all played some decent football but when it
mattered most there was a lack of execution. Lions quarterback Jared
Go+ was a perfect 18 of 18 and threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns.
Go+ had a third touchdown were he played receiver and waltz into the
endzone on a trick play that fooled the Seahawks defense. Despite the
defensive transgressions the Seahawks o+ense had some bright spots.
Running back Kenneth Walker returned to the line up afte missing two
games and ran for 90 yards and three touchdowns. Yup I said it. Three
touchdowns. Quarterback Geno Smith was under duress all night long
and was sacked three times. In between sacks Smith passed for a career
high 395 yards and scored one touchdown. DK Metcalf caught seven
passes for 104 yards and became the first Seahawk player to record three
consecutive 100 yard receiving games. The offnse had a couple of
miscues at the end of the game one example was in the fourth quarter
and time running out there was confusion on what played was called on
fourth down. The ball was snapped prematurely. As much as this was
about the Seahawks one has to give credit to the Lions who were picked
to make it to the SuperBowl this year. Add the fact that the Lions had not
beaten the Seahawks in six games , well you can imagine the Lions were
out for blood before the even started . It is a quick turnaround for the
Seahawks as they will host the New York Giants on Sunday. The game on
Sunday will the Seahawks a chance to get right and continue their winning
season . Despite the loss to the Lions the Seahawks still lead the NFC
West with a 3-1 record.
