Fleet Week: Members of the military ride free Aug. 1-6 on King County Metro

King County Metro is offering free rides on transit to active and former military personnel Aug. 1-6 to celebrate Fleet Week.

STORY

The forecast calls for Seafair, hydros, Blue Angels and sunshine, and Metro and Sound Transit are offering free rides to military personnel from Aug. 1-6.

Fleet Week is a longstanding Seafair tradition. Ships from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy are docked at piers along the Seattle waterfront for the public to tour and enjoy. To celebrate it, active duty, veterans and retired military personnel can ride free in uniform or with valid military identification on these services:

  • Metro buses

  • King County Metro Water Taxi

  • Metro Flex

  • King County Metro Access paratransit, DART, Community Connections and Community Van

  • Sound Transit Link light rail, Express buses and Sounder

  • Seattle Streetcar
