On Feb. 20, 2025, the Washington State History Museum will host We The People And The American Dream. It will be held at 1911 Pacific Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98402. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m
There will be music and speakers such as Lee Warnecke from the Southern Poverty Law Center and former Tacoma Mayor Bill Baarsma.

On the 19th of Feb. McMenamins and Costumers of Color will host History Pub – The Art of Carving Out Space: People of Color in Historical Costuming at the Spanish Ballroom. The Spanish Ballroom is located at 565 Broadway, Tacoma WA 98402.
Historian Gigi Coulson will discuss “the intersection of historically marginalized people, dress history, and modern society while emphasizing the importance of community,” as stated on the Facebook event page.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event will start at 7 p.m. It is $9 per ticket. You can go to www.mcmenamins.comto-do/live-music-events to purchase a ticket.
On Feb. 23, Black Night Market will host their 4th Annual Black History Month Market. It will start at noon and end at 6 p.m. The event will be at Mount Tahoma High School. It is located at 4634 S 74th St, Tacoma, WA 98409. This is a free and family-friendly event with free parking.
There will be over 30 vendors. In addition, entertainment, speakers, and more.

Seattle
The Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) will host Black Abstract: Black Influence on Western Modern Abstract Art with AshaAung Helmstetter on Feb. 22 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. It is free for members and $30 for non-members. NAAM is located at 2300 South Massachusetts Street, Seattle, WA 98144.
This will be a workshop where guests, according to NAAM’s website “will create intuitive abstract paintings” and learn about Black people’s influence in abstract art.

On Thursday, Feb. 20, NAAM will host Calling In: An Intimate Evening with Loretta J. Ross. It will go from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. For members, the event is free and non-members admission is $40.
Ross will discuss her book, Calling In: How to Start Making Change with Those You’d Rather Cancel. She will offer “tools for fostering real change without shutting people out.” the website states.
On Feb. 26, Town Hall Seattle will host journalist and author Victor Luckerson. He will talk about the Tulsa Race Massacre. Luckerson will discuss the challenge to ensure it is not forgotten.
It starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. This will occur at The Wyncote NW Forum at 1119 8th Ave Seattle, WA 98101.
The event was organized by the University of Washington Office of Public Lectures. It is a hybrid event and you can pay what you can.
