Celebration of Life for Dorothy Hubbard Bown


1937 -2023

Dorothy Hubbard Bown was born on 2/17/1937 to the union of her mother and father Oller and Julius Barfield. She was a sister to one sibling Robert Larry Williams. Dorothy graduated from Garfield high school and after Garfield, went on to college to earn a bachelor degree in fine arts. She was highly intellectual and always at the top of her class. She worked at Sears for over 10 years in the advertising department, then decided to become an entrepreneur by opening up her own businesses. She had a successful florist and antique business and was well-versed in telecommunications. Dorothy was an avid writer specializing in writing plays. She loved painting, sketching, singing, gardening, shopping, listening to music, she was phenomenal at everything she did while always displaying excellence. Dorothy was always full of life, the love of God always shined on her and you could see it through her Godly demeanor and beautiful smile. She was married as a young adult to Felix Hubbard and through their union they had seven beautiful children. After their marriage she met the love of her life, Augustus (Sonny) Bown. Dorothy and Sonny wrote love letters daily to each other, as they refer to each other as Lady Dorothy and sir Sonny. They frequently traveled to Victoria Canada which they had made their second home. Their love is a true love story. Dorothy had a deep love for God, family and life. She was family oriented and very passionate about her family, they were always her priority. On August 21st 2023 Dorothy received her wings to come join the Lord in heaven. She was preceded in death by Husband Augustus Bown, parents Oller and Julius Barfield, son and daughter Glen and Beverly Hubbard. She leaves to cherish her precious memories son’s Ricky, Robert,Julius, daughters Gail, and Diane Hubbard. Grandchildren. Adam Eberlein, Teesha, Brittany, and Tiffany Hubbard. Great grandchildren Riley, Aiden and Makenna Eberlein, Ja’Marie Jordyn, Augustus, Andrew and Isebella Hubbard, and lots of other relatives. Dorothy has reunited with her love ones in heaven, and they’re all sitting at the right hand of Jesus, building the house that God gave them. There’s no doubt she’s writing and directing a play, has planted a beautiful garden, and is organizing heaven for the better. Can’t wait until we see you again mom. We Love you. Service will be held Thursday, August 31 at Evergreen Washelli 11111 Aurora Ave N Seattle WA 98133 Viewing Wednesday August 30th 10 AM - 4 PM Viewing Thursday August 31st from 12 PM - 1 PM Service Thursday August 31st at 1 PM Burial is August 31st right after the service @ Washelli Cemetery. There will be no repast.
