Celebrating the Life of Russell D Reece-Burrell

Russell Darnell Reece-Burrell, born on November 20, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, peacefully passed away on February 24, 2025, in Seattle, Washington.
Russell spent his formative years in the Central District of Seattle, where he attended Meany Middle School and was a proud graduate of Garfield High School. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, he helped to found the influential group The Descendants, leaving a lasting mark on the local music scene.
Russell was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, with an unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his mother Helen Burrell, siblings: Chauncey Reece (Pamela), Stephen Reece Sr., Louis Burrell Jr. (Mary), and Kent Burrell, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Louis Burrell Sr.; his sibling, Pamela Reece; and his nephew, Stephen Reece Jr.
Russell’s memory will remain etched in the hearts of all who knew him, as he was known for his unwavering dedication, deep compassion, and the warmth he brought into the lives of others.
Location of Memorial Services will take place March 29th, 2025, 1-4 pm at the Paccar Pavilion 2901 Western Avenue, Seattle, WA. 98121

Russell was a talented musician and a cherished member of the local music scene as part of the group Third Creation. He played alongside the legendary Sir Joe Willis from St. Louis, known for his powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence, and the skilled musician Rick Pellum Sr. from Seattle, whose unique sound brought life to their performances. Together, they created music that resonated deeply with their audience, leading the group to evolve into what would later be recognized as The Descendants.
Russell's passion for music and his warm spirit touched all who knew him, and his absence will be profoundly felt by friends, family, and fans alike. We will carry your memory in our hearts always, Russ.
You were truly loved, and we will miss you dearly.
