40 Years of Legacy!!! ADEFUA Cultural Education Workshop is kicking off 40 years of presenting West African culture in the Pacific Northwest! Join us in this community celebration, as we continue building Legacy by bringing to realization the African Cultural Arts Center (ACAC), a safe, communal space that reaffirms and celebrates identity, and connects people of African ancestry with their roots, while also supporting cultural arts in our intergenerational communities. Your tremendous support has enabled our committed work of teaching and performing in the Community for decades. This year’s theme is: ‘The Evolution of Culture in Community’ A Community Celebration of West African Drumming, Dance & Song! JOIN US!! Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024. Doors open at 3:00 pm, with the African Marketplace, music, community networking, shopping, food, and more. ● Share Your Story - A Call for Testimonials to be included in the documentary, “The Legacy of ADEFUA”, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. ● The one-night Odunde LIVE Performance is 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Location: Rainier Arts Center (in Columbia City) 3515 South Alaska Street, Seattle, 98118. There will be hundreds of African artifacts, clothing, instruments, and cultural gifts for your pre-holiday shopping! As a part of the African Market, come ready to eat yummy, hot, tasty African food from Ghana, West Africa by Chop Chop restaurant. Come early for parking, DJ & Live music, community networking, meet and greet the Odunde artists, videos, and more! Two Special Guest Artists performing in this year’s production are: Baba Mosheh Milon of Bantaba Performing Company, and Grupo Bayano, a Seattle-based Caribbean music and dance group, also celebrating their 40 Year Anniversary.
